For Playback on my Tech DVD Player? would i have to encode the file to a 720X480 mpeg2 file than burn to dvd-r or what? i got lots of cartoons (spiderman animated series, the tick,x-men and more) i would like to take off the VHS and put onto a DVD-R for playback on my kids dvd player. The dvd player will not play cdr or cdrw nor will it play vcd or svcd.

any help would be welcome :P

    Thanks.

  2. It's pretty simple...

    1) Open TMPGEnc (close the wizard) and use your .avi as the video and audio source...

    2) Click on the 'LOAD' button on the bottom right and select 'DVD NTSC' template

    3) Click on the 'SETTING' button >advanced >full screen(keep aspect ratio)

    4) Select an output location and hit the start button.

What you'll end up with is a mpg2 that you can use in your favorite authoring program. I personally use Ulead's DVD Movie Factory. It lets me set up menus, backgrounds, BGM, etc...if you have something else, that should work fine.

  3. Sounds like your dvd player will not play dvd-r. If it doesnt play vcd, svcd, cvd or anything like that, it probably doesnt play dvd-r or dvd+r, so all the converting and encoding wont do you a bit of good.

    Two suggestions:

    1) look on the left under dvd players and determine if the dvd player in question can play dvd+-R/W

    2) read one of the many guides that are located up at the top of this page that explain in detail how to convert vhs tape to dvd.

    In answer to your question:

not necessarily. You possibly can have it at 352x240, 352x480, and 720x480 as long as the audio is at 48mhz.
