DVD to SVCD using TMPGenc - No preview ++++

I am using the latest version of the above prog (ver j)
I captured a DVD using a capture card (Studio DC10+) and saved it as a DVD. On playback, the movie is OK.
If I try and convert it to VCD or SVCD using TMPGEnc, but I don't get a preview.
I have checked the preview options within the prog, but it does nothing. I tried to convert regardless, but gues what, no picture on playback.
If I capture with a camcorder it seems to preview fine and convert, but not with DVD.
Any suggestions???
