i am trying to *ahem* make a a backup of Eight legged freaks, but the movie is to big to fit on a blank ( if memmory serves its about 5 gig ) if i rip this, then convert it with DVD2ONE, discarding all subtitles and Frech, German, Italian 5.1 sound tracks etc, should this be ok ?
I have done this, and now the movie is 4GB which is kewl, but my Q really is this. Is the movie smaller because video quality has changed, or is DVD2ONE smart, and its smaller because of the discarded audio tracks ?
it looks ok when i watch it on my PC, but we all know it looks different on a TV anyway ...
many thanx

If it's 5 GB to start, and you dump all the Audio tracks but one ( the subs take up no space per say ), then it should fit on a single DVDR with no re-encoding. The 5.1 tracks take up a few hundred MB apiece.

so ... is the right method ??? using DVD2ONE ... or would you do it another way ?

Keep it simple.
DVD2ONE, only 1 audio track, and no subtitles (unless you absolutely have to have them). No menus or extras(if the extras are so kickass, do a seperate DVDR with just the extra's, it's only 1 extra disk). This will give you the best possible 1 disk movie you can get. Minimum audio and no menus/extra's means there is the maximum amount of space for the main movie. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
