    Hi,
I send CD's abroad which have mpeg 2 video diaries on them. Frequently I overrun the size of the file, and need to shrink them down to just less than 700 mB. Annoying when the file is say 723 mB!

Does anyone know of a freeware or other program that will allow me to compress or shrink an existing mpeg 2 file to a predetermined size? Most allow you to use different compression rates, but I haven't come across one where I can just set the size, and the program will automatically choose the right amount of compression to just fill the CD. Any ideas?

    1) Encode with HCEnc,

    or

    2) write your CDs in Mode2/Form2.
