one drive is giving 1X capability in Nero, the other is giving the 2X option (Ritek both)
what can I do to get the other one going 2X?

I just downloaded:

.........and burned a Ritec and a DVDPro at 2X and they tested fine. I first tried to use the firmware upgrade specifically for Ritec disks but it failed so I installed the one listed above. -
I installed the above mentioned firmware upgrade on my A04 drive and it works like a charm.
I had purchased a 100 pack of v2.0 discs that Pioneer hasn't got around to approving yet, and I've burned 26 of them so far in the past week and not had one failure.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like to burn their non-Pioneer-approved media at the appropriate speed.
