dougry,
Are you daft, man?
Is there nothing that someone can't find something wrong with?
Does it not look more like a UN soldier firing a heavy machine gun at your own disobedient workers?
Why the hell do you have to give THE most barbarous interpretation to anything you see?
Is it your upbringing, or your post secondary education?
I think this site is going to make me crazy with the stupid, really, really, stupid stuff I have read lately. And, I think this is one of the stupidest. -
gmatov
Sure it's stupid! But did you have to duck and hide every time you got gas? Did you walk in zig zag patterns as you walked through a parking lot? Did you rearrange your life because you were afraid of being shot? did you keep your kids inside because a sniper told you that your kids were not safe? Did you do any of this? I had to!!
So maybe it hits a little closer to home with me than it did to you. It was mearly an observation. I'm bored, okay! -
A completely different set of circumstances but...
...I remember when a couple of kiddies went missing over here in the UK.
Weeks went by and no sign and then, found dead, murdered, sexually assaulted.
I didn't know the girls, but the whole country was united in shock, sympathy and then anger.
Personally (at the time) I found myself looking for a reason to argue with anyone who trivialised any aspect of the case.
Of course no one would be so dumb as to say they didn't care, that they derserved it or anything, but I was just waiting for some shit to say these girls shouldn't have been out on their own, what were the parents doing letting them out etc etc. etc so I could rip into them.
I felt a sense of injustice, and wanted to vent that fury on anyone.
I'm sure I'm a prime case case for councilling/medical help but my point is when a tragedy is so close to home sometimes it only takes the slightest little thing to set those emotions running.
Keep you and your family safe dougry, they're the most important thing (as you know)
Take care,

Thanks Will Hay.
It's not like a have a problem with it. It's just that my stomach sank when I saw the Snipersmile.gif.
Even now as I type the news is talking about the West Virginia sniper. And it's 5:00 AM (US East Coast time) -

No need to lock a thread just because there is an argument. If there was the House's of Parliament would nver open. Arguments are a good resolution for problems, sometimes when people are angered the best responses occur.

My point was your suggestion that the emoticon was similar to that of a sniper and therefore inappropriate was a little sensitive, taking into account the situation in which you describe.
The humans among us understand this, but if you expected whole-hearted agreement to your post then you came to the wrong place, sorry.

If you did not want a reply then why did you post ?,
And I started it, so I'll end it.
I no longer care about -
Jeezus, dougry,
Look into our history a little bit.
You are going by the sensalisation that the one of 500 news channels has made of the sniper case, and, by extensiopn, the new case that the police chief there was forced into admitting had similar modii operandi.
There have always been mass murders in the world, and not always in the US. And Jack the Ripper, in Britain, was not the beginning. Watch some of the history channel, or, better yet, read some of the history of the world.
I do not care how much policing you do, until you come to a society like the movie, what was the name, where the guy was not guilty but the computer predicted he would kill,, you won't stop all killings. ( There are still frozen legs o'lamb, y'know.)
So you should hide in a cave, or behind walls because someone shot someone a hundred, or a thousand miles away?
Well, maybe YOU should.
I think it's ridiculous that you should even bring up the emoticon in question.
Can you believe that at my tender age I've lived into a world of pussies?
Go figure,
Cheers,
George -
