    Are these lines sopposed to be there?

    I get them when watching a DVD with a software player, watching a decrypted DVD off my HD with a software player and when I encode as a DivX or MPG.

    these lines often appear on interlaced material, i'm not entirely sure why though. not much i can say about playback, but when you're encoding you can use Vdub, dvd2avi or tmpgenc to crop the duff lines.
