  1. I have some troubles playing a movie, burnt on DVD-R media, on my Philips MX1060D player. Sometimes, when I put the disc on it, it recognises the disc, and the DVD format, but the process stops and there is no way to iniciate the play process. At tis time, the audio indicator of Dolby Digital also starts to blink, as if the audio format is unrecognised.
Other times, when putting the same DVD-R on the tray, it starts to play with no problem, during the entire movie.
I wonder if this is a standalone DVD player or if there is some kind of wrong burning or copying process?

  2. It sounds like a media incompatability problem to me. What Media are you using?

I tried Princo brand on my Phillips and JVC standalone players and they didn't like the media too much. The Phillips wouldn't play the end of the disks and the JVC would play them after it warmed up.

I have recently switched to Ritek, and they work wounderful. I suggest switching media type. Ritek's run about $0.90 each.
