  1. Sorry, I was trying to read other peoples questions to see if they would answer mind but I cant understand some replies. I have a couple of questions. (1) I downloaded a movie off of KaZaa but I cant see it. The file is avi. I want to convert it to Mpeg to burn it on a DVD. I was reading that I needed to download "neo codec pack", which I did but I still cant see it. If I try to convert it to Mpeg so I can burn it onto DVD will that pose a problem. In other words, once it is in Mpeg format will I then be able to see it even though I couldnt see it in avi. format. (2) Can someone PLEASE tell me which converter to use to convert from "avi. to mpeg". And if I am successful, what should I do to burn it onto a DVD. (and yes I do have a DVD burner").....Thank you in advance.

what kind of avi is it (there are about 50)? -- use g-spot (in tools)

if you cant see it -- fat chance that you can see it after you encode it to mpeg as most likly nothing will get encoded

once you get the right codec and can see the avi on your system .. most likly you will have to resize it - encode it and then author it -- THEN burn it onto a dvd-r or +r

find out what codec the .avi is using. find and install that codec - installing "codec packs" that are floating around is usually not a good idea - you don't need to install 19 codecs just to get the one you need.

If you can't play it on your system, your mpeg encoder is not going to see it either. once you can watch it on your system, use an mpeg encoder. I like TMPGenc, others are CinemaCraft (CCE), Main Concept, Ligos, etc. etc. Check the Tools section for links to encoders.

Then import your encoded mpeg into an authoring program (I like DVD Lab) and author your dvd. Once it's done, burn.
