  1. Hello chaps,

I have connected my laptop to teh tv via the s-video connection.

I get my windows desktop show up on the TV.
I can play a DVD thru the laptop and get the output on the TV screen using PowerDVD.

Yet when i try to play an AVI (Divx/Xvid file) in windows media player i get sound, i get the windows desktop environment on the TV screen, and I also get the media player skin show up, yet where the image of the movie should be I get nothing on the TV screen, but it plays fine on the laptop screen.

I'm new to all this so any ideas/solutions or kicks in the right direction will be greatfully recieved

    many thanks

  2. What kind of video card is in your laptop ? If it is nvidia... right click the desktop, then go down to Nvkeystone, make sure their is a check by it, put one their if their is not.

This worked for me...hope this helps.....

basically mess around with the Nview and Nvkeystone if you have and
    Nvidia card.

  3. My video card is a SIS 650 32MB.

I have this app running on startup from Chrontel, and was wondering if that had anything to do with things.

Ive scanned thru the forum here and read about copy protection/Macrovision.
Not really knowing a great deal about it I was wondering if this could be the problems I am experiencing. But am confused as I can play DVDs thru the laptop and get the video output on the TV, yet AVI/MPG files wont.

    thanks

Can't remember where I read this
    but....

Is this a card with built in
    MPEG decoding?
Is it possible that this cards'
    tv out doesn't recognize AVI?
I've read that the x-card behaves
    similar.

  7. I've actually sorted my problem out now after fiddling around with the display properties.
Changed the source from LCD to TV and hey presto, it works a treat.

    thanks
