  1. I've seen a couple of SVCDs with menus, which to use you have to press a number, then press select. Is this the only way to do SVCD menus? Do SVCDs not have the ability to have the user move between hotspots like with DVD?

    Thanks for any info.

Hotspots are only supported when played on a pc. For hardware playback you cannot use the directional buttons, however you can simulate this naviation using the next and previous tracks to switch between your "buttons."

Basically, make a separate still pic with each of your "buttons" highlighted. Have them all linked using next and previous and when you move foward or backward it appears like the buttons are being highlighted. You can then use the Enter button to select that item. Its a little hard to explain in text. Try downloading the sample disk from my guide, http://home.att.net/~adam.poole/Introduction.htm

Go to the language and subititle screen and use the next and previous buttons to see what I mean. If you like the effect then follow my guide to see exactly how to do it.

  3. Thanks, that's extremely useful. Sounds to me that your method also gives you a bit more flexibility over the look of the hotspots, as the way I understand it, they're very limited even on DVD.

Does the same apply to VCD?

Shall check out your sample later.
