I am creating a DVD that is made up of 12 seperate 3 min Mpegs...I want to create it so
after each one is played , the DVD returns to the menu and I can start the next one
when I want...in other words I don't want the 12 clips to play one after the other...how do I do this?

I hate answering a question with a question, but what authoring app do you plan to use?

Having asked that, I use (and recommend) dvdauthorgui. Turtorials are available. Short explanation...add your titles, click the "nav cmds" button (navigation commands), select each title one at a time, set the end command to return to the menu.

Other tools are available, but I can only tell you about this one as it's what I use.

Oh yeah! Welcome to the forums!

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but check this thread to see if its what you want.

    OK...

I have a theater production that utilizes a DVD...instead of starting the DVD at the first clip and stopping/starting it manually, I want to run a clip and when it ends the DVD goes back to the menu...that way I can start the next clip using a icon/button of the clip...

Drag clips onto menu, then right click, select properties
Then "jump action" = menu? (return to)

Dvd > options > disable both "create jump pad" + "create empty menu if none exists" > click ok

File > burn dvd > give location to temp dir > check "just generate" > click start ... wait

Remember each button between menus also need a jump action to navigate between them

Pretty much any decent authoring tool will do this easily if each clip is treated as a separate title. In fact it would be the default behaviour in the vast majority of authoring apps.
