I have been following King John's guide for converting NTSC to PAL using Vdub and Goldwave and then TEMPGenc to convert avi to mpeg2. So far, everything has run fine with several successful conversions, but I have now found a file that appeared to convert to PAL perfectly but it does not show in TEMPGenc. There is no apparent video but there is audio. The avi plays fine in Media player, great quality, it's properties are what you would expect to see but it will not preview in TEMPGenc. When I continue with the mpeg conversion, the screen remains black but the conversion "appears" to continue as normal. On completion, the new mpeg will not play in anything, but appears to lock my hard drive in a continuous spin. When I load another file into TEMPGenc, it is back to normal again. I have tried both versions 2.59 and 2.510.
It appears this problem file has developed a fault or corruption somewhere in the process. Is there any reason for this to happen? Is it salvageable or must I start again? Thanks for any ideas.
