For backing up DVD's on the PS2 what media works. I know alot of different types of media work but for how long. I have heard a couple reports that using cheaper media will cause the laser to burn out after a few months. Has anyone been using dvd-r's in there PS2 for a while now? And if so what media works for you?

  3. I also have version 7 ps2 with magic and I found Bulkpaq Generation 3 and 4 both worked perfectly for games.

However, for films these disks got to about an hour and then they froze.

I then tried Ritek (traxdata, Lynx) and both these worked perfect and let me watch the films okay.

Been using Verbatim dvd-r for a good while. It works very well in my PS2. Just bought some Ritek G03 and works in the PS2 also.
