Hi people!
I got an Xbox 360 Slim and I stream videos from my PC to the Xbox 360.
Doing some tests, I've noticed that when streaming videos using Windows Media Center on Xbox 360 require less bandwidth on my wireless network (used a YouTube 1080p video for the test: with Windows Media Center, the streaming was @800kB/s - without Windows Media Center, the same video was streamed @1,6mB/s). I also noticed some filetypes aren't recognized even on Windows Media Center, like .FLV or .MKV, etc. I wonder how I can stream all these kinds of videos on my Xbox 360. Installing these different codecs on my Windows Media Player, maybe?
Thanks!

Try tversity or ps3mediaserver or playon instead. All are free for file streaming. Tversity and playon have pay versions for direct net streaming from places like youtube (direct from the website itself not the files already on your computer - those are streamed free from these programs).
These have transcoders built in to handle files like flv or mkv whears wmp or wmc are not nearly as robust.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
No they install on your computer. Load the program and then point them to your video file folders. Then it will show up as a choice in your video tab on the xbox dashboard where you would normally find the windows stream list. Open the one up for say tversity and it will list your video folders that you have selected for streaming. Select the folder you want then select the file you want to play.
