Compatible Dvd-r Media With Playstation 2

I'm having some mixed results with playing Dvd-r on my Playstation 2.

First off, I am buring Ritek 1x media on Sony dru500a with a v5 Playstation modded with Magic 2 chip.

I burned some downloaded video files onto Dvd using Ulead Dvd workshop, and this Dvd played fine on my Ps2 and my standalone Apex 3201 player.

Next, I backed up Goldmember and it played fine on my Apex and my Sony drive. However, in the Playstation 2, the disc skips every couple of seconds.

I read on some posts that Ritek media works good on the Playstation 2, but turns out that might not be the case.

Please tell me what media has worked in your Playstation 2 and the version Ps2 you have.

In the meantime, I will keep burning and post some results later.

yeah, a little too expensive for me to use because I have a lot of Dvd's to back up.

Here is an update to my skipping problem. I remembered that I sometimes have skipping problems with original dvd videos, so I decided to keep trying different boot methods with my backup of Goldmember. Finally, I found a way to consistantly boot Goldmember without skipping. I start the Ps2 like normal (single tap on reset button), then when it goes to the red screen saying "please insert Psx or Ps2 format disc", I hold the eject button until the tray opens, then I close it with Goldmember inside, and there it is, no skipping, every time. This taught me not to be so quick to blame media for my problems. It must have been my Magic 2 modchip interfering with playing the disc. This is a strange remedy, but it works.
