  1. I cannot convert my avi file to mpeg in TMPGEnc.

I've read the newbie guides and tried increasing the directshow priority to 3, also I've downloaded all the recommended codecs but it still won't work.

I've previewed the file in VirtualDub and it is playing fine there, if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

I really, really want to get this movie copied onto disk!!

    UPDATE!

I upgraded my version of TMPGEnc and when I tried to open the avi it worked!! (I noticed there was no sound) then I realised my file was too big so I decided to go back into VirtualDub and split the avi.

I followed the instructions and managed to split the file into two files. I also saved the audio as two wav files (one for each part of the movie).

Now when I go into TMPGEnc I am getting the problem I had originally, can't open the file, unsupported!! I'm at my wits end with this, it seems to be problem after problem. The movie will play fine in VirtualDub so I know there is nothing wrong with it. I've also run it through Gspot and everything is in working order.

Somebody please help me, I'm at a loss as what to do next!!

Basically I have 2 problems, first I can't convert the avi in TMPGEnc. Secondly, if I manage to get the file opened there is no sound!!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

    Thank you!!!

Need more info. What type of avi? what sound compressor? etc. Open your movie with virtualdub, go to file - file information. It will give details there

On the whole, it's better to encode the AVI to mpeg in one go, then cut it up in pieces with TMPGEncs MPEG Tools.
