Check this out. I got Tmpgenc DVD AUTHOR 3 with Divx Authoring right and I used older tmpgenc dvd author versions so I know i gotta convert my vids over to mpg before even trying to make my dvd, so.... I go in and get TMPGenc 4.0 Xpress cuz I used to use 2.5 to convert to mpg for the old version of dvdauthor.

Get this... pick NTSC DVD etc...etc... really LOVE the standards all being right there, convert my vid and close xpress...
I fire up DVD AUTHOR 3 (with divx authoring w00h00) and give it my converted file...wtf... can only load the audio part?? ok .. so many of you say its CODEC time but GSPOT tells me all the files i've tried have the correct codecs installed not to mention they open just fine in media player and VLC. What really gets me is this thing was already an mpg and should have gone right in.. its just a silly video clip not some obscure video i found... the other thing that really twists my noodle is how the converter programs output is not readable by the SAME COMPANY's authoring program which is supposed to be used in direct correlation with it.

truly maddening... can anyone make sense of this? I'm not a noob to this and it just doesnt feel right that its not working. Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

I would try convert a short clip with same settings and see if it happens again.

You can also use tmpgenc dvd author as converter as it's an all-in-one converter.

it is a short clip and what do you mean all in one? it is not... if it was it wouldnt need to import already supported file formats if it was a converter... its not... its nowhere near an all in one... cuz if it is... wheres the convert button? there isnt one.. just add file and source wizard (which is identical). and it does not support *MOST* video.

Tmpgenc dvd author 3 does convert avi files to dvd, also tmpgenc 4.0 xpress encodes compliant dvd mpg files, might be something wrong with your installed codecs.
