Hi.
I seem to be having a problem while encoding some video to MPG2 using TMPGEnc. The file in question is
a 5.40 GB DV-AVI which runs for about 25 mins and 30 seconds. I was trying to encode using the 2 Pass Vbr
setting (A first for me). All other settings are standard ones I always use (Taken from one of DJ Rumpy's guides).
Upon starting the project, I got the black "Analyzing" screen and a finish time of about 40 minutes. So I went to
bed and left it to do it's thing. This morning, It seemed to have finished but the .m2v file I got was about 375 MB,
Which I thought was odd. No way compression could be that effecient. So I play the file in both Mplayer and VLC
and all I get is a black screen. However, The play head is moving along it's timeline and the total time in both
players shows 25 mins and 30 Seconds.
I thought perhaps this file was the first in a 2 Pass proccess but always thought TMPGEnc would continue
automatically after the first pass. I looked for a setting or anything to continue the proccess but found nothing.
Does anyone know what might be going wrong? I'm off to do a CBR encode to see if everything goes as it should.
Thanks for reading.
PS:
2 Pass VBR uses a max rate of 9500, An Avg rate of 6000 and a min rate of 2000.
