  1. Are there any instructions anywhere on how to use AVI FourCC Changer????

I've got a couple xvid's that I can't get to work on XP, but that work on another system running Windows 2000.

I'd like to use the program so that I can convert to SVCD and burn to watch on a DVD player, but unsure of how it works.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

    See if this works.
Uninstalled all DivX codecs and xvid codecs,(Nimo Pack etc.)
You can then install xvid codecs from here:
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html

Then install all DivX codecs separat (Not from Nimo).
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html

After that install Nimo Pack but uncheck all divx codecs and the xvid codec and also uncheck a direct show filter which is Ffdshow DirectShow
    Install Nimo from here:
    http://www.btinternet.com/~nimosiro/

    Now all should work fine!

By the way,AC3 comes with the Nimo Pack and I installed this with
Nimo Pack Build 8,not the new Build 9.

And if the movie is a xvid, then you have to change the enviromental settings in TMPGEnc.I have TMPGEnc 2.58 and this is my enviromental settings when I try to encode a xvidmovie:

  4. Thank you for all your help, I can now watch xvid's on my pc.

So, after getting that to work, I've come across a new problem. When watching the SVCD that I encoded from the xvid, everything is great. No problems whatsoever. After burning onto cdr though and playing in my DVD player, there is major delay! I don't get it, there's no delay when playing on my pc, but as soon as it's burned and slapped into the dvd player, there is delay..

Any idea why this is happening??

What do you mean by delay? A long delay before it starts playing, does it play slower, or does it play a little then stop then play some more, etc.? A little more information will help us help you.

  6. Ok, I just downloaded an xvid movie, changed the environmental settings in TMPGEnc and encoded it as an SVCD. I then split the MPEG2 into three separate files using BBMPEG. After splitting, I burned an SVCD using Nero. I slapped it into my SVCD player at home, and it looked horrible. The video was jittery and the audio was out of sync. It started out of sync and didn't get much worse or off track as the SVCD went on.. maybe a little bit..

So then, I brought the SVCD with me into work and played it in here using PowerDVD. Surprisingly, it plays absolutely fine until the very end of the first cd! At that point, it becomes extremely jittery again but the audio doesn't seem to be out of sync, it's just jittery along with the video.

Any ideas what is going on?? Did I miss a step when encoding, splitting, or burning that needs to be done with an xvid??

Any help would be appreciated! It's getting so frustrating, I've had nothing but problems with xvids!
