I've got a little problem - just bought new 24x cd-rw drive (24-12-4x)oem, to replace old trusty pcrw404,4-4-32), installed it...and found that nero allows me to use it only at 16x. Until i load media, it shows that i can write at 24x, but i tried 3 types of cd - and they all were written on 16x
I tried :
phillips cd-r80 24x
digitex maxdrive cd-r80 1x-40x
traxdata silver 90 min 24x
My OS is Win98, mb - j867s (jetway, kt266)
Nero version 5.5.9.17

Did you try uninstalling the drivers for both CD-R\RW drives and uninstalling Nero. Then reinstall both again, there maybe something left on your computer that is messing it up.

What drivers?
My CD-rw (both old and new) is IDE devices, so no additional driver fro win98se.
I did reinstalled nero - not helped.
Also InfoTool from Nero package says that i have 24x burner...'till i install any of mentioned discs.
Well, i'll try other brand later - unfortunately these is most common here in SPb (so others not in nearby stores)...well,maybe gotta try Verbatim.
