  1. Specifically, I want to be able to use VobSub in AviSynth. I like how VobSub works with Virtualdub frameserved to CCE. However, my encoding speed decreases to about 0.8 using Virtualdub vs. the 1.3 using AViSynth to CCE. So is there a way to make VobSub work in AviSynth?
Or is there any other way to make subtitles using AviSynth?
    Thanks all!

This is from the AVIsynth side:

Avisynth 1.0 beta supports VirtualDub plugin filters.

VirtualDub plugin filters are supported, via the LoadVirtualdubPlugin command. Convenient Avisynth-style interfaces to many VirtualDub plugins are available in the file vdfilters.avs, which is included with the DLL above

  3. There's also an AVIsynth subtitler at dvd2svcd.doom9.net that you can use. No really good directions, but basically run subrip and create bmps of all the subtitles and a subtitle.txt/persubs.txt file with the timing info. Then load the AVIsynth subtitler filter and ref the subtitles.txt file for timing info.

This is the default subtitle optition for DVD2SVCD.
