Ok, I carefully followed a guide to backup my Monsters Inc DVD by using decrypter to rip, ifoedit to create new files, and Nero 5.5.9.9 to burn, however, the DVD-R will not play in my standalone. BUT, when I put the DVD-R in my computer, WINDVD automatically starts and plays the DVD. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

    Standalone: Toshiba SDR3750
    Burner: Toshiba SD5200
    Media: Imation, version 2.0
    Burned at 2X

Try use something else to burn with like Recordnow Max, Primodvd or instant dvd. And be sure that your dvd player support the media you are using.

  3. I just had the same problem when I was using what everyone had recommended in this thread - http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127624&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight...ysical&start=0

But I figured out my own settings that would work with Nero 5.5.9.17.0 and my DRU500A that would play on my new Panasonic CP72:

    DVD-ROM UDF/9660
    Check ISO level 1
    Check IS9660
    Uncheck Joliet
Uncheck anything in "relax ISO restrictions"
UDF 1.02 (under the UDF tab, select physical)

DVDMax, DVDxcopy, and DVDdecryptor work fine for me also.

  4. It is also dependant on the brand of media I have found. DVD players do not use the same sophisticated error correction and read technology that the DVD drives do. You might find that a different brand of media is needed for your set-top player to work. My old Pioneer (DVD-343) couldn't read the 2x Princo that my newer Philips can.

    Good luck w/ it

To Baldrick and everyone else that has helped me in the last couple of trying days.......THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I really can't thank you guys enough. My wife and boy thank you too! I was driving everyone nuts this weekend when my Toshiba burner arrived at my doorstep on Friday. After several hours of fumbling through the guides and asking questions here at VCDhelp, not to mention four- $4 coasters (Imation 2X's) I FINALLY made a successful backup of my Monsters Inc. The problem you may ask? NERO! No more NERO! I used RecordNowMax and my DVD-R burned successfully. Once again, thanks to all those who helped and thanks to such a wonderful website!
