  1. I'm using my stand-alone DVD player (Philips DVD 958) for playing SVCD-movies. Till last week I never had any problems with SVCD's. But last week I downloaded The Two Towers and there it went wrong (also with other movies from the last weeks). The quality of the movie is very good, but at the moment the background noise is getting louder and there is a lot of action/movement I hear some tickles in the sound. Then a few moments later the movie freezes for like a second and then continues. This happens every time when there is a lot of action/sound.....very disturbing!
I burn my SVCD's with Nero 5.5.10.0 and because I live in Europe use the standard PAL setting. Can someone give me some info how to solve this problem?

Does nit happen on your PC, or jsut a standalone? Movies liek what you have hav ea lot of backround video noise (from the camera that took them) the eats up your bitrate. To compensate, people run a higher bitrate, this in turn overloads you player and it skips. If it plays in your PC and not your player, the bitrate is too high. If it skips in both, then teh encoder ran out of bits processing and you can see the result.

  3. Thanks for the quick reply!

The movies I have problems with (freezing) happens only on the standalone DVD-player and not when I play them on my computer directly via the harddisk. So the bitrate is too high.....
Is it possible to lower to bitrate so it shows properly on my standalone DVD-player?
