  1. Hello there! 8)

I have trouble ripping one of my DVDs. I want to make a backup of it (it's seriously scratched) but, as usual, it's a DVD-9, so I can't just copy it or make an image...

I decided to re-encode the VOBs with ReMPG and I checked the Bitrate Calculator... but the BC said I must re-encode the DVD at a bitrate of 2500 or less... (199 minutes) I think that's too little bitrate and video quality will be poor. I don't know if I must re-encode the DVD at that lousy bitrate or to rip them to DIVx with "almost" full quality...

My priority is achieving full quality, or nearly as full as possible

    What must I do?

PS: I'm spanish and I'm afraid that english language is not one of my strong subjects... feel free to correct me if necessary

PS2: BTW, this is my first post on this forum. Greetin's to everyone!

  2. That bitrate sounds about right.

If you don't want to use that low of a bitrate (I wouldn't), Use IFOEdit to split the DVD to 2 Discs.

  3. Thx I'll give it a try. It will make a mess of the DVD menu, right?

The problem is, that the .vob files are quite... strange. The disc is part of a series (His and Her Circumstances) and I thought that each .vob would contain just an episode, so ripping would be easy... but each .vob seems to contain two episodes and a half...

Do you know where to find a tutorial about DVD splitting?

  4. Um... Well, it's REALLY easy to split DVD-9 with IfoEdit... I don't really need a tutorial XD I thought it would be harder, but it's just "select, click'n go"

    Thanks Just what I needed
