  1. Strange, I got this flick.avi which plays perfectly synched in WMP. I follow the all in one avi to mpg conversion guide

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm

and when I go and test the resulting mpg the audio is totally out of synch.

    Any ideas

WMP is very good at keeping avis in sync so never use it as a judge of results you can expect after encoding. Did u load the uncompressed wave back into virtual dub and play it to check syncing before sending it to TMPG? It may well have been out of sync before conversion to mpg

Youve opened the avi with virtualdub, saved the sound as uncompressed wave. Now in virtualdub go to audio - wav audio... and open the wave. Now play parts of the movie to check syncing. If its out then welcome to the joys of resyncing sound. you can adjust the audio positioning by going to audio - inerleaving and putting in a figure in ms to resync the sound IF its a constant sync error for whole movie

  5. If you are using TMPGenc you can delay or increase the position of the audio positioning relative to the Video under the source tab. I have used this to good effect in the past but I am afraid it tends to be trial and error!.

I have been advised in other posts that you could always use TMPGenc to demultiplex and then remux using BBmpg which is supposed to put the synch back in the movie. If the out of synch is constant this method should work, if its variable then you may need to experiment with the suggestion above.

Always make sure you save out the wave, then use this as your audio source and the original Avi can be used as the video source.

    Hope this helps, Good Luck

Prefer using virtualdub myself, u can put in the delay and press play, and watch the effect of the delay before processing or saving to file (not so much hit and miss)
