  1. I'm trying to convert AVI to VCD, but having problems because of the AVI. Here is the info from V-Dub

    640x480, 15.000fps

Is there a way to convert this to a VCD? Do I have to convert to an AVI type that is supported by VCD? Thanks.

You can convert it, but it's going to be noticeabley jerky. Not much you can do about that.

You can convert it to 29.97/30 fps without much headache ( nice multiple of 2 there ). You could als convert it to PAL relatively simply ( 3:5 ratio is relatively clean). The end result is still going to be jerky, so donm't get your hopes up.

Let me clarify. A 15 FPS video is alwasy going to have 15 fps of content. No amount of conversion can take this away. At 30 fps, you going to have 15 true frames and 15 duplicate frames, hence it's 'still 15 fps' and the jerkiness is percieved, and not related to the encode or playback.

As the saying goes: you can downconvert, but never upconvert. Or the end product can never have a higher quality than the input: you can never convert a VCD to SVCD and have it look like a DVD ripped SVCD. Filters not withstanding, and that is only an issue for caps, not DVD's in general.
