Situation:
I have several TV MPEG files - all of which are 100% compliant and are NOT corrupted in any way shape or form.
Everytime I try to burn them - the CD-RW Drive (of which I've tried 3 different brands) stalls at about 28% of the burn and then continues normally to 100%
I'm left with a VCD which pixellates and locks up at about 20 minutes into the disc. Same place - EVERY single fricking time.
I've tried updating my IDE Busmastering Drivers - updating Nero - several different ASPI layers all of which have no effect on the VCD no matter which drive I use to burn it.
I have tried 2 seperate CD-R media to create the VCD's - Same problem on each - I'm tearing my hair out over this one.
Help me Obi Wan...

You might want to try a different burning program like VCDEasy, available at: http://www.vcdeasy.org/ .
It is very common for people to have problems setting up VCDEasy for burning. The common fix is:
In VCDEasy, in the bottom right corner, does it say ASPI seems valid: yes, or ASPI seems valid: no? If it says ASPI seems valid: no, that is your main problem. In that case I suggest you go to: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/frcaspi.cfm , download the ForceASPI drivers, install them and reboot. If after you reboot, it shows "ASPI seems valid: yes" then on the CDRDAO settings page, select generic-mmc as the force driver for the CD Writer, select your specific CD Writer in the dropdown menu for that section and check the force execution box. Now you should be able to burn using CDRDAO, which is the CD burning program built in to VCDEasy.
If it still doesn't burn then the second thing to check is VCDEasy set to "Simulate Burn" that is right on the main page. Uncheck "simulate" and check "burn".
Once you get VCDEasy working, look around inside the program. You will see it is a very versatile VCD/SVCD burning and decompiling tool. -
Hey Justice
I had the same problem. It turned out to be the Nero cache (HDD) was set on the same IDE cable as the burner. You can change the Nero cache in file, preferences, cache.

Hi everyone,
I've had a few problems like this. I got around it by using VCDEasy to author my (S)VCD's but I create .BIN and .CUE files. I the use CDRWin to burn the image to CD.
This may seem a bit time consuming but I had no end of problems with Nero, as did many other people I know. I've not wasted a disc or had a failed burn since I used this method.
Also use the best quality disc's you can afford. Using crap quality CD's gives you problems when playing in standalone units.
