  1. I have got a SVCD, and I need to convert it to Standard VCD, as I can't play SVCD's on my DVD player. I usually use TMPGEnc for encoding avi files to MPEG. I open the svcd folder on the svcd, and click the file that has the extension mpg on it, and do the same for both the video and audio section in TMPGEnc, it freezes. Then occasionally it doesn't freeze, but when you click start, it has the counter for time taken counting up, yet no other counter is working, and the picture isn't getting displayed where it usually would do when encoding. The percentage completed thing doesn't seem to move at all even after 10 minutes of encoding. What can I be doing wrong? Is there a plugin that is needed for me to get this to work properly?

    HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Which version on VCDGEar? Because I am running Windows XP Professional Version, and I noticed that there is 5 different versions, and the one I just downloaded was only 58 KB which seems very small for a program. So which one of the following versions is the one that I should download?

    Version 3.xGUI (Engine 1.7x)
    Version 1.6 Console (Engine 1.6)
    Version 2.0 GUI (Engine 1.5)
    Version 1.5 Console
    Version 1.4 Console

You could try copying the MPEG2 file from the SVCD disc to your hard drive first and then using TMPEG to encode it from your hard drive. It might freeze up but it should only be temporary. Give it a bit of time.

either try de-multiplexing first or try the vcd header trick also to avoid re-encoding ...
