Hmmmmm yes i have a similar problem too, im not sure if its to do with the encoding to mp2 but it seems everytime i try to encode and avi to mpg the result comes out with no sound.

I have tried updating my version but it doesnt seem to fix the problem.

If you find out or know the problem and how to fix it can you please post a reply message.

    Thanks

You should be able to work around the problem using BeSweetGUI, or TooLame. Check your Environmental Settings | External Tools settings to make sure everything is in order. Ensure that if you are using an external program, that the EXE files your pointing to are still there, and have not become corrupted. Try running them manually to ensure they still function as expected. Not to say that Windows isn't a perfect operating system, but files do get corrupted due to lockups, and hardware failures.

If your using the BeSweet GUI, I've noticed that there is a bug in the interface for 2Lame, with two options for Wav To MP2. One gives you a MP2 that's all white noise. The other seems to work as expected. Try a small bit on both to verify if this is the problem your seeing. You can always update your version of BeSweet, or 2Lame as well to see if that helps.
Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...

I have fixed the problem, i downloaded toolame and then done what the instructions somewhere on vcdhelp told me to do. Every time i convert with TMPGEnc i convert the avi to wav with avi2wav and then it all seems to work fine. :P
