    ________.__________.______________.__________.
every 2 seconds or so the video stops for 100ms or so

this is like a normal car :P

i know this is a ripping problem cause i have some experience with it...
but this movie is the first i ripped with windows xp...so it could be windows or it could be a codec...i dont know...so my question is...
WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THIS

the codecs that i installed are from the nimo pack...divx3,11 divx4,12 ..divx5.1 and xvid codec
i use TMPGEnc for the ripping...if u need more info to help me just ask it

Its funny how you say you have experience with ripping and then say you use tmpgenc? too funny!!

tmpgenc is a encoder not a ripper
ripping is ripping directly from the DVD disc. your talking conversion, maybe you should do some more reading.

  3. aight forget the confusion about ripping and encoding!!!

i think u get my piont about the problem...so do you know a salution for it?

  4. this is definitely an encoding problem. is your source avi ok? are you doing other things with your pc during the encoding process? are you trying to get too much onto 1 disc, therefore got a lox video bitrate?

  5. the avi source was okay...and during the enoding proces i download with the eDonkey...but that should be the problem cause i got a 2GHz processot with 512 Mb memory
and the file size was 2 * 45min with a bitrate of 2000kb/s

I've seen the same effect on some of my AVI to VCD conversions. Mostly visible as a very slight stop in a continous movement at regular (1-2 s) intervals. All I can think of (that the source have in common) is that they are all NTSC versions in the beginning. (I'm in PAL country...) It could be a frame rate problem, either in the encoding or in my DVD players NTSC to PAL conversion.

Yes, you can use VirtualDub (and many other tools) to get the AVI file info. Note the frame rate. Then, in TMPGEnc, if you're using templates, use the corresponding template. If not, take care to set the frame rate the same as the AVI source.
I think this might be the problem.
Luckily, most PAL equipment seems to handle NTSC quite nicely. I gather the opposite is more uncommon

Yes, PAL is 25 fps. For further info, look under WHAT IS to the left.
