Here's my problem, whenever I rip a movie from my internal dvd player, the video has patches in the video every once in a while, it's not a clean picture. This is a brand new DVD drive and I had this same problem with my original drive aswell before it died on me. I've even replaced the IDE cable incase that was the problem. The other thing is, is that when I plug in my HD DVD player for my 360 to the computer and rip a movie from that it comes out perfectly fine.

So does anyone know what could be the problem where the video comes back patchy from my brand new internal dvd drive as well as the old one that was in there, but the video is perfectly fine from my external drive?

Have you updated your video cards drivers? Also have you played standard dvd over the hddvd drive yet? Does standard dvd through the hddvd exhibit the same problems?

Also try a program like media player classic or vlc media player that use their own internal codecs for video playback. You may have more success with them.
