  1. Getting the Canopus ADVC-50 and the AOpen 2412 DVDRW to do some VHS/Hi8 -> DVD authoring. Analog to DV Format to MPEG2.

I don't know what software to use for capture, editing, conversion.

I've read alot of the articles here, but I'm still unsure which programs support DV format. Can someone help me out? I'd appreciate it alot.

If your editing needs are basic, then try ULEAD DVD MovieFactory. If you want to add titles and effects, try ULEAD VideoStudio6. For high-end editing, Premiere 6.5 is a great editor and the new mpeg encoder is quite good.

  5. I am not sure what do you call "DV format"... I use DV camcorder and I capture through FireWire to PC in DV codec (AVI file) and then I was able to convert it to MPEG2 with TMPGEnc (or Studio 8 ).

    See here...

  6. I'm not sure what format I'm talking about, as I've never done this before. Whatever the best format is to use for the Canopus ADVC-50 input over firwire. Are there different types of DV format or DV codec AVI?
