Howdy all. I just recently got my first prosumer camera (a Sony HVR HD1000U). Previously I could download from my HDD camera via USB. Since this new camera is MiniDV and HD, it requires firewire. My computer didn't actually have that so I dutifully went out and purchased a firewire card and installed it. Now I had everything I needed...or so I thought.
I don't need high-end editing software so I use Corel VideoStudio X12. However, when I try to capture directly to VS it errors on me. I have searched a lot of forums but I haven't found any indication why it would error (I've requested a user ID for the Corel User-To-User board but I've waited two days and still haven't received my account activation).
So I'm wondering if there is an inexpensive program out there that does a good job capturing HD footage off of a MiniDV. I did find HDVSplit, but it captures in real time (it takes one hour to capture one hour of video). I would like to have something that can capture faster.
Any thoughts/
Thanks all!!
JB

Consider the advantage that you already have your video backed up (time saver). Also you can log clips while capturing.
