  1. I have been trying to convert divx files to mpeg so i can play them on my dvd but every avi i try to convert ends up being un synced in a gradual process. I have tried to extract the audio and that fails and i have tried both the panasonic and tmpenc software and it happens on both. On other posts i have read about this and the solutions which seem very involved about adding blanks into the audio. To be honest i cant be bothered to go through this much hassle every time i want to do it. Why am i having this problem with every avi file i try? im close to giving up

  2. the divx files that you are getting are at a non standard frame rate, so when you convert the audio gets out of sync(going from say 11 frames per second to NTSC standard of 23.97 or 29.97). If you dont want to be bothered, the easiest solution, which will get it close to 100% would be to simply let nero encode your divx file as it gets it right most of the time.

Don't use WMP 6.4, try Zoomplayer or some other standalone player. WMP 6.4 , with certain codecs installed, can lose sync.

You get what you pay for, so to speak, with downloaded AVI's. The surefire way i've used is to frameserve it out of vdub to TMPG. TMPG doesn't do VBR audio very well. Also, is the file improperly 'fixed'? This can lead to a bad encode. Open it in vdub and check it for errors.

Fix it and do a direct stream video copy, and convert the audio to PCM. View the new AVi, is it in sync? If so, try opening it in TMPG.

If all else fails, stick to downloaded SVCD's (here's a tip, check for NTSC/PAL before you wait for the 2.5 GB).

  4. Try using the program DVD2SVCD You can change the source file to avi and it automates the whole process for you. I use that and more than not I don't have any problems and my audio is always in sync.
