  1. When playing the file in VirtualDub the sync is good but when I save as AVI the resulting video seriously/hugely lags audio. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    PLEASE give all the DETAILS!!!!
What is your source audio format? Are you doing audio->direct stream copy or full processing?
Is virtualdub complaining about vbr audio when opening the video?

    Or try edit with avidemux.

  3. For audio processing I tried both Direct Stream Copy and Full processing mode
Both result in very out of sync audio. It is like the video is in slow motion and the audio finishes way faster than the video.

For video compression I am using ...
    ffdshow video codec
    Encoder: MPEG-4
    FOURCC: SVID
    Mode: one pass - quality

Here is the Media info for the input file...

Did you check the encoded file for audio/video lengths? Frame rate : 200.000 fps may be related to the problem. The audio seems to be PCM, so nothing too odd. Are you converting that to MP3? Did you adjust the framerate to 25fps? (Assuming PAL video format.)

Where on Earth did your video file come from? Am I seeing something wrong? It appears to be encoded to MPEG-4 at a bitrate more suitable to DV. PCM audio at a 44.1 KHz sampling rate is fine for music CDs, but for your MPEG-4, an .mp3 with a 48 KHz sampling rate would be more appropriate. And like Redwudz noted, what's with that 200 fps frame rate?

There's a lot going on here that is way out of whack.

I don't think the problem lies with VirtualDub...not one bit.

  6. You are right. It is the 200 fps that is killing it. I am using CamStudio to record screen capture video and that was the fps that was recommended. So I have messed around and found how to capture at 30 fps and VirtualDub likes that alot more!

Thanks guys for helping me narrow down where the problem is.
