I need a componant video cable for my ps2 and an s-video cable for my dvd, I've look around and found out both are around 40$ CAD each in stores like FutureShop and RadioShack. But if I check at lik-sang . com, I can get both for 15$ CAD. Does the quality of cables really makes a difference? All equipement are about 2 feet from each other ( if distance is important). Thanks

To debunk a myth, and as someone that works on electronics:
As long as there is a good connection then the type of cable doesn't really matter. The better cables have better made connectors, insulation and gold contacts. You get what you pay for. Does that affect the quality of the signal? Not that I have ever been able to tell. Yeah, it's pretty much about the workmanship. The quality of the signal is not really affected. You'd probably want cables that won't break or fall apart on you. If you buy cheap cables and don't mess with them after making the connections, you should be alright.

Cheap cables more susceptable to interference than higher quality cables. Interference comes from your computer, monitor, power cords, TV and cables. However, a little forethought can alleviate this. Just make sure your video cables aren't twined around your other cables. Grounded power cables and grounding your equipment can eliminate a LOT of interference!
