I'm trying to convert a .wmv file to .avi and i've researched the site and came across a conversion method using GraphEdit utility. I ended up downloading DirectX 8 SDK. When i open up the GraphEdit utility, everything is fine until i try to insert filters by clicking on Graph and then insert filters. I get an error message saying: "DirectShow SDK Filter Graph Editor has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I've also gotten this error message while using Stoik Video Converter. Does anyone know why i would get these error messages and perhaps tell me how to correct it. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am using Windows XP home if that helps.
