Folks,
I know that there have been several basic "the sound is out of sync, please tell me the fix" posts both on this forum & others, so please bear with me!!![]()
Th problem I have is that, yes, the sound is out of sync with the video after encoding with TMPGEnc.
I have a downloaded DiVX file called, say, MONSTERS.AVI
I used the TMPGEnc wizard to convert the MONSTERS.AVI file to a MONSTERS.MPG file. Worked fine, but there was no sound at all.
So I searched the forums, and tried the following:
Used VirtualDub to extract the audio to a seperate .WAV file, and then instructed TMPGEnc to use both the MONSTERS.AVI and MONSTERS.WAV file to create MONSTERS.MPG
Now I had sound, but it was out of sync.
So I searched the forums, and tried the following:
Used VirtualDub to get the frame setting (23.967) , and changed the TMPGEnc setting to be NTSCFilm (it had been PAL), which confirms that it is encoding at 23.967 frames per second.
I still had sound, and it was still out of sync.
So I searched the forums, and tried the following:
Downloaded AVI2VCD, and tried to convert MONSTERS.AVI ... no luck because it has compressed sound. So I used Decompress.exe to create MONSTERS2.AVI
Played MONSTERS2.AVI with Windows Media Player ... had sound, and guess what ... it was out of sync.
BUT when I play the original MONSTERS.AVI it is fine and the video/audio is perfectly in sync!
Has anyone got any ideas on what else I could try (have worked on this for many hours already), or could it be there is a problem with the downloaded .AVI file (I am beginning to suspect this, even though it plays fine)
Absolutely any/all advice would be much appreciated!!

Use Tmpeg to encode the avi to mpg and encode the wav to mp2,but do them separately. Then use Tmpeg TmpegTools to multiplex the mpg and mp2 into mpg stream, select the stream type for what going to burn. SVCD or DVD?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
In order to do what you describe , is the following correct ? ...
(encode the AVI to MPG)
This next bit I'm not sure of ?(encode the MONSTERS.WAV file to MONSTERS.MP2)
(2) do I do this by having *no* Video Source, selecting the Audio Source as MONSTERS.WAV, and set the Output as MONSTERS.MP2 ?
I am creating a VCD, so the Stream Type will be MPEG-1 Video-CD ?
Thanks again for your reply , hope that you can confirm that the above is correct, or where I have mis-understood. -
Finally managed to work out how to do the 'video only' and 'audio only'!!
However, once I did the Multi-plex to put together the .MPG and the .MP2 , it was a massive file (2GB+) and the audio was totally out of sync almost from the start ...
Time to give up I think ... -
Okay.....I haven't used TMPG in a while, so I'm going mostly from memory here, so bear with me. But, if you go to settings>advanced and double click source range, there should be a setting there to adjust audio delay. I had this problem with a couple of movies, and this fixed them. You may have to adjust this several times, so it's best to use the source range and just encode a small section of the movie, preferably one with a lot of dialogue, until you get the audio in sync. Then you can encode the entire thing and you should be fine. Hope this helps.
Sometimes, ya just gotta.....umm, what's the word........FART??? -

Many thanks for both replies.
1) The audio delay. The file starts in sync, but gets worse as it prorgresses. Should I convert say (1st 25%) then (next 25% with a delay) then (next 25% with a larger delay) then (last 25% with a larger delay again) ?
I realise that I'll have to play around with that, but thanks - I will give it a go
2) Use bbMPG. Where can I download this from ? Have searched the net and can't seem to find it. www.bbmpg.com is a chinese-character site ?
Thanks! -
