I have been reading posts about converting divx movies to dvd. I thought I would give it a try. Just one question though. My movies are fairly decent as far as quality goes. But ofcourse there is always some compression artifacts from the divx compression. Does the high bitrate with dvds take some of that out or is it still going to come out looking blocky. I would just go ahead and try one but I am on my last disc and don't want to waste it if the quality is going to be bad anyway.

Yes it will look blocky and reencoding an already compressed video will make it worse. Garbage in Garbage out.
You could add some filters like blur but then it wont be as sharp of course.
