  1. I am not sure what seamless branching is, but I will search for topics on it on this site. Just from the 9 or so guides I have read thus far, I have read a little about how certain movies have this "seamless branching" i.e, the Matrix, The Abyss, and apparently Minority Report is another from a post i've read on this forum. At any rate, my question is where would seamless branching come into affect for me backing up movies? Let's say the Matrix for example was 5 GB'S (which I know is much bigger, this is just an exmple) and after I stripped it with IFOEdit, I got the main movie down to 4 GB's. Would I be able to burn it as I would a regular movie I've cut the extras out of, or do I need to do anything special? I see a fucntion that is greyed out in IFOEdit that says "remove seamless branching" then it has next to it a box that says "keep titles"...

    would that seamless branching box be "active" if I loaded up an .IFO where the main movie has seamless branching? And if so, would I check it? And if I check the box, what do I put in the "keep title" box? This is confusing. I hope too many movies don't have seamless branching. Anyway, if I do click the remove "seamless" branching, could I just strip the movie as I regularly would and be able to back it up? If someone would give me a little info on this I would appreciate it much...Thanks

    Doom9 -> Copy&Paste:
    "Seamlessly Branched DVDs do not just contain two copies of the film, but rather share similar parts of the film, but at points, deviate from each other for certain portions. So effectively the VOB s contain the movie only once."

    so there could be different kind of versions of the movie in same vob's...original version, directors cut, special editon etc

    if you want to keep all those versions then it's complicated... but if you want for example keep the special edition version(or what ever you want to keep) then you just enable "Seamless branching" in IfoEdit and choose that title where the special edition(or what ever you want to keep) is... etc

  3. @ Adder, your help has been immense. I really do appreciate all your time. I'm gonna print out that definition of seamless branching. Seems tricky. I would only want to keep one edition of the movie "if" and when I come up on it.

    Adder, if you see this response, I have one other question regarding a post you replied to a few days ago. You mentioned that I should use smartripper for the .AC3 track and not DVD2AVI as it sometimes gets corrupt. I was reading a completely different post on another topic and it mentioned that when you use smartripper's stream processing, the .AC3 will be output, but it will have a delay in it's name. The post on the other forum said that .AC3 delay corrector would have to be run on that .AC3 file, as well as the .AC3 file being put into something like "besweet." Would I be able to do what you said and just rip the .AC3 stream and add that into Maestro, or would I need to use that .AC3 delay corrector and besweet? Thanks once again in advance.

    No I dont recomend that you use allways Smartripper to get Ac3-track. DVD2AVI is very good program for that but sometimes it wont work and then you should use different program/programs... Sometimes Smartripper gives bad results...

    Smartripper wont add delay in the Ac3-file... it's there allready... you can try dvd2avi and smartripper for the same file and there will be the same delay in both files 8) ... sometimes there is delay and sometimes there isnt...

  5. @ Adder, thanks again for the info, but I am a little confused. When you say sometimes there will be delay and sometimes there won't, do you mean that the reason I have probably not had sync problems with other movies encoded are because there was no delay? When I get my .AC3 track, I never see any delay in there, but I tried to use smartripper as you mentioned, and I saw while it was ripping the .AC3, it showed -83ms. Then when the .AC3 file was output, it had that same number in there -83ms. Does that mean the audio is 83ms behind the video? I tried that .AC3 delay corrector, but I am not sure what number I am supposed to put in for delay. I selected the target track, and named the source track with the word "pulldown" in it, and left that "0" in the middle at "0". That didn't work. Then I tried delay corrector by putting 83 in the box, but I didn't put (-83 ) I just 83 without the (-) Is that right? That didn't work either. So my question is basically, what am I supposed to put in .AC3 delay corrector if the output .AC3 file shows a number like
    -83ms? And after I put that into delay corrector, should I use a different program such as "besweet?" thanks in advance

  7. Well, I tried to just add the .AC3 file that was output from DVD2SVCD, into .ac3 delay corrector, it output the fix and I still had the same problem. I have no idea what causes that problem, but I know that it only does this when I use DVD2SVCD to reencode a movie. And it doesn't do it always, only every now and then. I've had movies that have had anywhere between 5-25 second delays in the audio. I guess I am going to just have to stop using DVD2SVCD for DVD's. When I use that proggie for SVCD'S, I get them flawless! They look exactly like the original DVD, but I need to use multiple CD-R's which I don't like. At any rate, does .AC3 delay corrector actually work, or is it a joke? I have heard other people post and many have said that it does absolutely nothing. Before I ran .AC3 delay corrector my movie was about 5 seconds delayed w/ Audio, after I ran it and got the "fix.ac3" my movie was STILL 5 seconds delayed.
