  1. I extracted the .cab file like I read someone else using the DVD2DVDR tool did, and I was able to eventually get 27 files in the DVD2DVDR folder. I started it up, it took an hour to rip, it did another process and then I got an error saying that it couldn't find the DVD.AVI application or one of it's plug-ins. In the folder with 27 files, I had DVD.AVI, and "one" plug-in. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I still have not been able to actually get this to install...I keep getting an install error in German. I have XP Home, and when I downloaded the Service Pack and tried to install it again, I still got the same error. I could probably just put the DVD2AVI app in the DVD2DVDR folder, but then i'd be concerned if there were other files missing and app would just stop again. Can anyone please help me with this, or at the least tell me how many files are in the DVD2DVDR folder after a proper, succesful installation?

  2. This Program installs DLL files into Windows folder and also into registry. here is a installation file of what it has installed and whereabouts, it also shows you some registry keys that it has added..You can try and use this has a guide to help you.

try and see if you can install the VB6 Runtime files and then install DvD2DvDr program again and see if it goes thru..

  3. mosh, thanks for the detailed response, I do appreciate it, however, I'm not sure how that will help me. For some reason or another this program is not installing through set up. The way i got the files to a folder on the desktop was by extracting them. That allowed me to be able to launch the program app. Once it started working it ripped perfectly, but then I got the DVD2AVI error which said it couldn't be found on my system. There were a total of 27 files in the folder I extracted, two of them were titles DVD2AVI. one was the .exe, the other was a plugin. I appreciate all of the info on those registry keys, but I don't see how that will help, because the only way for me to have the same registry keys would be to have this installed correctly, and that is what I can't get done for some reason or another. I just figured if someone could at least tell me how many files were in their DVD2DVDR folder after extracting/installing, then I could try and figure out how I could get the remaining files/ if possible, or at least know what I was missing. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. I saw several people with the same error as myself, they were asking for help and apparently have figured out the problem and they don't bother posting what they read or how they have fixed it.

  4. The errors you are getting upon install are possibly due to the VB6 runtime files which is why it is failing. If you download the VB6 runtime files and install on your system it might bypass the error because you will have the necessary dll's installed that this program needs on your system which is the ones it places in the windows/system folder.

I have a total of 7 files in my Dvd2DvDr folder but if it isn't regged correctly in registry with the necessary dll's it needs in windows/system then it won't matter how many files you have in this folder.

there is a new version coming out in the next few days. check out this here for more details.

  5. mosh, thanks again for your response. I may be wrong, but I think I do have VB6 Runtime installed for some reason. Don't you need to install that to have Quicktime work properly? Maybe I am thinking of some type of java install, but I thought I had to install that VB runtime before. Does Windows XP come with VB6 runtime installed already? If not, do you know by chance where I can get it? I will do a search on microsofts site, or the web, and try to D/L it anyway. Then I will try to install DVD2DVDR again. I do appreciate all of your help. Have you tested DVD2DVDR out with any back ups?

  6. I am not sure what VB runtime shipped with Windows XP. But if Visual Basic 6 came out a few months after Win Xp then chances are the runtime libaries have been updated for VB6. Admittingly has far as i can remember i have never had to install VB6 runtime on my system running Win Xp Pro but a program could have updated them.

At the moment the program can only do PAL without probs but the new 1.3.0 version will be able to do both formats. I have used this program successfully, I have only done a few PAL discs so far and am pleased with the results.

I know this may sound presumptious but have you clicked on the big button with the computer in it to start the install of the program.

Did you checkout the thread i gave you earlier because the creator of the program posts in there. Because a few people have expierienced this problem and they seem to have resolved it.

Also if you check the thread i d/l'd the program from the 2nd Link in the first post there, incase the version you have is corrupted.

You could try creating a reg file and importing the reg keys from the install list from earlier post to see if that sorts program out (But you do this at your own risk)...

To create a reg file just copy the reg key lines without Quotes at begininng and end into a text file and then save as .reg and then double click on file and windows will ask if you want to import.

Sorry I can't give any more help because i can't see what could be causing the installation problem other than what i have said.

  7. I had exactly the same prob.

Go to the drive (mine was E), where you unzipped the dvd2dvdr files. Create a new folder and name it DVD2AVI, then drag the dvd2avi.exe in to the folder.
Then try and run the proggy again. This worked perfect for me

Also it may be necessary to run RegCleaner to remove anything in your registry regarding other progs that used dvd2avi. I had it installed when I used to run dvd2svcd. I cleaned the reg, did the above folder thingy and it worked perfect, hope that helps and works out for you

  8. mosh, thanks once again for all of your help. I just downloaded VB6 runtime (basic) and installed it. I am going to try and now download DVD2DVDR from the link you provided from an earlier post. I am hoping that helps. As far as tweaking/altering the registry, I am not a computer whiz, but I have taken my chance with registry files in the past. I keep a backup of everything I am running now as a Ghost, so should anything happen, I can reformat and transfer within an hour or so, as if nothing ever occured. I am going to try Raiders suggestion also, if these two things don't work because they said they had the same exact problem, so I will make that folder and try once again. Hopefully this time I will be successful. I have CCE 2.5 and will also but the .exe file in a CCE folder, just in case it doesn't recognize CCE when it comes to encoding.

Thanks again mosh for all of your help, and thanks Raider for the tips. Hopefully I will get this resolved.

  9. It found cce 2.50sp ok on my pc m8,
but it also had probs finding the MPEG2DEC.DLL.

I also had to make a folder MPEG2DEC and drag the MPEG2DEC.DLL file into it. (Just in case you get the same prob )

  10. Mosh, Raider, I just figured out what the problem was. It is kind of embarassing to say, but what Mosh thought was the obvious, actually wasn't. I did not see the big computer icon initially. I only saw two tabs, one on the left and one on the right. One of them seemed to sound like abort when I read it, and the other would attempt to install something, then give me the errors, so I thought that was the installer tab for sure. I guess I was wrong. ..lol...Raider, I think the reason you are getting those errors becuase you extracted individual files as I did initially. Now that I have a full install, I see there are two folders. One that says DVD2AVI, and the other that says MPEG2dec . The program looks for those files there, so when you extract manually, they won't be there and as a result, you have to create them like you did. I don't know if you got a full install though, as Mosh said, there are registry keys which are listed above, when the install is full. You might want to reinstall it again, and this time don't press either of the two tabs parallel from one another, but rather the huge computer icon to the upper left corner of the screen. No wonder the rest of the people who had this error never came back and said how they resolved it..lol...they probably felt pretty dumb. Anyway, I have no shame. Thanks again Mosh/Raider, I appreciate the help. Too bad there isn't any support for NTSC right now, or very limited, because I am in the U.S. and most movies I have are NTSC. But I will play around with it and see what happens. Thanks again!

  11. I had some problems setting this up at the start and was getting an error message. It was only after the third attempt that I realised the install button was not the obvious one.

When you click setup from your unzipped folder it brings up a set-up window with two buttons on it - Click OK. It is the second screen where I was making the fowl up. I was clicking the button that said 'set up beeden'. Instead, I should have been clicking the Icon button above. This then takes you to another screen letting you put the start option in the program manager - click the button the bottom left and proceed.

Hope this is some use. I realise other people may still be having problems.

    Cheers.
