  1. I've been attempting to burn VCDs/SVCDs on my system so that I can reduce the number of VHS tapes in my living room. I've got a Que (Plextor) drive and a Sony drive. I've been using an old Dazzle DVC-1 but finally got frustrated with it and decided to try the Dazzle 100 (Analogue/USB).

Despite the glowing reviews I've received about the Daewoo DVG-3000N playing "anything thrown at it", I've been unable to get the VCDs or SVCDs that I've burned to run on it. My VCDs will play in sync for a while, although the sound is very glitchy - and after 5 minutes or so, the sound will start to cut out. SVCDs are just the opposite - the picture will crawl and eventually come to a screeching halt, while the audio continues to play.

I've burned the same discs using both of my burners (a Plextor and a Sony) using fast and slow burn rates. No difference.

Has anyone else had problems getting VCD/SVCD to play on this Daewoo unit? I've got a Koss unit (the mini-model) and it does exactly the same thing. I'm ready to give up at this point.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm tempted to think it might be the Dazzle unit, but if this is a consistent problem with their hardware I'd doubt they'd still be in business.

  2. i have a daewoo8000 pal and it plays a cd's burnt with the vcd and svcd standards. The only problem i have is green layer discs.

maybe you could try making some cdrw discs and go to a friend or a audio/video shop and test the disc.
