So I bought one of these for my grandfather and was hoping to burn some stuff for him to watch. Much to my dismay, almost every dvd+r disk I tried did not work. I contact KOSS customer support and here is the responses I received. Read the rest of this post from the bottom up...
You claim that your dvd player plays DVD+R, but you can't tell me which brand will work? Well, I guess I'm returning the player since it doesn't play dvd+r's as stated on the box. I think there is a term for that...false advertising. You just lost a customer for life...and I will be telling everyone I know not to buy your brand of DVD players because you mislead/false advertise and your customer service is horrible. Also, Bob, I will be printing out this email and sending it to your corporate headquarters so that they have a copy of this for their own records.

Your telling me you sell a dvd player that supposedly plays dvd+r's, but your not willing to say that one brand in particular will work right if burned properly? That sounds kind of fishy to me. Now I'm not about to spend who knows how much money trying to find one dvd media that works because you guys don't know. Also, I don't really want to take back a xmas present I bought my grandparents either. Have a look at the many other people who have had problems with various different brands of media and your machine.

Sounds kind of fishy that you sell something you say plays DVD+R, but your not willing to say for sure any one brand of dvd+r that will work. ONE compatible brand is all I'm asking for, just ONE. I will be posting this conversation on www.videohelp.com by the way so everyone can see how great KOSS's customer service is. Thanks for your help.

Dear Mark,
Thank you for contacting Koss Customer Support.
There are no particular brand names of DVD+R discs compatible with KS4110 DVD player. It normally plays all brands of DVD+R discs.
If the disc is finalized during the recording and it is Region 1 the unit should play the disc.
If the problem persists even after checking with the above, we assume that there may be some internal mechanism problem with the unit.
The KS4110 DVD player has 90 days warranty period from the original date of purchase. The warranty is not applicable for Koss products purchased in an Open Box Sale / Purchased on Rebate. If the unit is within the warranty we will provide you a free replacement. If the unit is out of the warranty period we would give you a replacement on a minimal replacement cost. The replacement unit may be a Comparable model.
For any claims under warranty a copy of the sales receipt is a must.
Please reply to this e-mail with the exact purchase date and let us know if you have a sales receipt for further assistance.

Bob,
I have done all that already. I am not new to dvd authoring. Please just provide me with a list of dvd+r brand names and their speeds that are compatible with the KOSS KS4110. For example HP DVD+R 8x. That particular one I know does NOT work with the KOSS KS4110. Please provide some examples of media that does so I don't have to try 100 different brands of disks. Thanks.

MessageDear Mark,
Thank you for contacting Koss Customer Support.
Please check with the following instructions before playing a DVD+R disc.
1. Make sure the disc is finalized during recording (Please refer to the instruction manual of DVD burner for exact instructions
on how to finalize the disc).
2. The Player is designed and formatted for a specific region. For USA / Canada, the region code is 1, try playing a Disc
which contains a region 1 code and a globe symbol adjacent to it.

To whom it may concern,
I recently purchased a KOSS KS4110 DVD player from Sears. The box states that it plays DVD+R's. I have yet to find a DVD+R that works on it. What brands of DVD+R (8x preferably) work with it?

My experience is exactly the same. I won't post my emails, but esentially I have the same problem with DVD+r...not one I've tried has worked and the same DVD+r works in other players and computers. And they won't admit it's their player. So the lesson learned...find an old Apex!

Some coments here say it plays +r fine https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=KOSS+KS4110+&Submit=Search&Search=Sear...y=Name&hits=25
Have you tried Bit-setting to DVD-rom? -

So MY experience has not been good with this player and DVD+r -
I have same player and it plays alot of what I burn. Try - DVD, but +DVD Sony and TDK work best. It's probably how you're burning or it's a bad DVD player.

Ok, I think I solved the BAD DISC error read on the screen.
I tried every DVD I had, Burned, Commercial, and a cleaning disc.
All read BAD DISC.
So. I took off the top, it has about 8 screws and blew on the laser with
compressed air. I checked the fuse, fiddled with the mechanism and tried
it without the cover. Everything worked fine. Read all discs and activated the
cleaning disc. Put cover back on and 4 screws. Worked fine.
I think these units are very sensitive to anything on the laser which causes a
bad disc reading. Especially if you have pets.
This technique could save hundreds of these Koss players from being discarded
in the recycle bin. Since I have other players, I will sell this to a friend, with a
clear conscience.
