  1. As I’m rather new to this I’m looking for a little advice on how to proceed.

I’ve just downloaded a film ,in two parts from Kazaa, the format of both is Mpeg,
    part 1 consists of 723Mb (758,418,808 bytes
    part 2 consists of 715Mb (750,370,816 bytes

Obviously first off I’d like to know if the Mpeg format be suitable to view on a DVD player (not a PC DVD but one which is compatible to CDR’s) if I copied it as it is onto a CDR !

The second part of my question is what is considered a good program to convert the above for copying onto a viewable CDR, does it need compressing to do it and if so to what format.

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

    Regards

Compatibility with CD-R's does not mean you can just drop a MPEG down to a CDR and expect it to run in a standalone DVD player. It still needs to be converted into VCD or SVCD structure (proper bitrates, filenames, directory names, etc.) I suspect the MPEG's you downoaded are probably already recorded at the proper bitrate, in MPEG-1 format for VCD. If that is the case. I suggest you get VCDEasy(you can find it in the tools section) install it (you may have to install the ForceASPI drivers to get it to run) and then burn the files to CDR using VCD format. Once VCDEasy is installed it is very easy to use. You should be able to find a number of guides on using VCDEasy on this website.

Will let you know how I get on.

    Thanks again

  4. I have often just burned mpg files on a CD-r and played it in my DVD Player. I just select the folder and press Play. The only thing is it doesn't show you the elapsed time done that way.
I usually use Nero, though. You can get it from Kazaa lite. Very easy to use.
