We use Sony Handycam HDR 120's for field research work, and unlike working with Tape, where we would identify and capture only the clips we need, we now have a complete set of digital files (mpegs) that we need to chop up.
What is the recommended way to turn the (already digital) raw footage into usable clips complete with Meta Info, etc.
We are looking at some MPEG editors that claim that the mpegs are not reprocessed so we don't lose quality by re-encoding as MPEG... (TMPGEnc MPEG Editor and MPEG Video Wizard).
We were trying to make this work with Premiere Elements 7 (due to cost and number of researchers and usability) but we are struggling a bit with this. We are assessing CS4 now as well.
Any thoughts on this are appreciated.
