I'm wanting to buy a DVD player with macro off and a Karaoke function. I would also like the player to play SVCD and MP3. I've been shown two players the Omni 3200p and the Conia 271. I was hoping someone might have had some experience with either of these players and have some feedback to offer. I live in Australia so a lot of the players available here are rebadged over seas models. I think the Omni player is a rebadged Malata machine but I'm not sure of the model. Can anyone help?

yes the OMNI 3200P is a rebadged Malata 520 with progressive play, I got one yesterday and it seems great. plays, vcd, svcd, MP3 and DVD+RW (thats all i've tried so far).

I think the Conia 271 is a rebadged Amoisonic player but I'm not sure of the model number, it's possibly a 8500. There is not a lot of info available on these players as far as user feedback only resellers promotional material.

I also forgot to mention the prices of these players. The omni 3200p is $399 at Strathfeild's and the Conia271 is $199.00 at the Good Guys. These players have exactly the same features except the Omni has progressive scan.

I've just found out that the Omni 3200p has Macro on. Apparently all progresive scan players have macro on. So the salesman that told me it had macro off did not know his stuff.

I've tested the Conia M271 with VCD, SVCD AND mp3 and all play very well. The manual says it will show file names for MP3 if in English but it does not. The Mp3 disks displayed file names when played in a Toshiba sd1300. The zoom feature on the Conia works great on VCD & SVCD but does not work on DVD. The picture blurs and looks like it is slow motion. Very strange.....

Someone has just reccommended a SAST AEP810. I have been unable to locate a retailer selling this machine but have found one selling a SAST AEP816 player. Has anyone had any experience with this player?

I've purchased the Sast AEP 816. It does everything that I wanted and so far has played everything I have tried, S(VCD), Mp3 with file name display, Jpeg pictures, DVD zoom feature works, zoom also works on
S(VCD), Karaoke and CD-R / CDRW. I have not tried DVD-R as yet. The player cost $299.00AU. Plays all region and has Mac off. It played CD-R'S both Audio and VCD that my Toshiba player has rejected in the past. -
Conia is a subsidiary brand of Amoisonic, and the company is going to abandon it because of some reason.
