Been a while since buying a standalone and not having been keeping up with the market I'll have to admit I'm quite overwhelmed by the myriad of models to choose from. What I'm looking for right now is a basic multi-region with no frills other than being able to accept DVD+/-R (really not a frill). Currently in the US and am hoping to grab a fairly decent player for under $40.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
