  1. What is the best burning program that is compatible with Sony DRU 500? I have tried Record Max 4.5 and Nero. It seems that Record Max 4.5 is quit unstable with DVD-R, (I have got a lot of write error) but works better with DVD+RW. Nero works very vell for me, but I can not get more than 1X speed on cheap media.

I have heard that Primo DVD is better to get high speed, but the version I have tried: 2.0 is not compatible with the writer.

  2. RecordNow Max and Primo DVD are the same Program, What type of media are you using, if your using cheap crap media than that can be the cause of it.

  3. Most cheap media can only handle 1x. I'm using the newest version of Nero, and find it works quite well. Make sure you've got firmware 1.0d.

The Meritline 2x media works fine on my drive. It is a bit more expensive than the absolute cheapest media you can buy, but if you want it to work, you've got to be willing to pony up the cash.

  4. Generally I'll use Easy CD unless there's something it can't handle in which case I'll use something else (like Alcohol 120%).

I have had no problems with RecordNow Max 4.5 and my DRU-500A (fw 1.0d) and DVD-Rs (about 5 or 6 brands/types of DVD-R 1X and 2X; also burned a Sony DVD+RW and two Philips DVD+R).
    I highly recommend it.
