  1. Hello all !
First off, excellent webpage, it has helped me out a lot !
Secondly, I have a video capture question i'd like to ask.

I'm trying to transfer my vhs tapes over to vcd
I'm using a standard memorex vcr, hooked into my video capture card (ati tv wonder pci bus).

The software that i'm using to record it is called Cyberlink Power VCR II.
    It works great, it's easy to use, and the quality is good for the size of the files it creates. ( mpeg-1 , 352X240 , 29.97fps , 1150kbps , Layer-2 44100Hz, 224kbps )

The resulting files that i record are perfect, except when i use TMpg to do some editing and chopping.

I noticed now that when i cut a file into several parts, those individual parts are now out of sync, i.e. the sound does not match up with the video. And where i chopped the last file, doesn't actually chop it where i wanted it to chop. i.e. plays 2-3 seconds after i chopped it.

Could this problem be because of the Cyberlink Power VCR II software.
Or is it a Tmpeg problem.
I've tried using VirtualDub, but that capture software won't recognize the vcr somehow !!
Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!!
    thanks

  2. Are you saying that vdub does not recognize your video card, or that you are not seeing the video you are pumping into the card from your tape vcr? If you run vdub and go to file/capture avi, you should see a preview window that displays the video you are feeding into your video-in port. If you're not seeing this, you will need the WDM wrapper.

Regarding the sync problems, I believe if you capture to AVI using vdub, you can edit there and not get the sync problems. It's better to capture in vdub, edit, apply filters, and then frameserve to tmpgenc's vcd template.
Live every day to the fullest as if it is your last, because someday it will be.

  3. yeah i find using VDub, the files are way too large, and when i open up VDub, i go to file, then i choose capture avi!
then i get a blue screen with lines, nothing else.
And i'll quickly exit VDub, then open up power vcr II, or windows movie maker, and the tv will appear !
